Praying for the marginalized

As our staff met yesterday, our hearts were heavy with the brokenness that our nation and world are experiencing right now. We reflected on how you have always showed up to help the vulnerable and marginalized in the countries where OTB operates. We are so grateful for this international family who in the name of Jesus step in and show up through social enterprises that we call Super Kitchens. Each meal prepared is a glimmer of hope. Each bowl a sign of love.

Jae and Debra have a quick update on the kitchens and a prayer for our country.

Inside Outside the Bowl is a weekly email to keep you informed with what is taking place around the world with OTB during this global pandemic. OTB’s Super Kitchens have had to shift from providing hot, nutritious meals to ministry partners who run feeding programs, to finding creative ways to meet food needs during this time of social distancing.

700,000 Servings

South Africa quickly went into a country-wide lockdown which left many people desperate to figure out how they would feed their families. Watch this quick update to hear how the team is meeting food needs for 7,000 families in Fisantekraal, a low-income area outside of Paarl.

Thank you for allowing the team to say yes!

Vita Kidz's timely arrival in Uganda

This past fall Outside the Bowl tried something new. We sent an entire shipping container of Vita Kidz Porridge from South Africa to Uganda. The porridge went to Kibaale Community Center, a Christian school in a rural part of the country.

With lockdown orders in place, these students who are dependent on the daily meal they received at school are still eating that healthy meal each day. That’s because of you. Watch the video to learn more.

Join us in praying for these students as they continue to grow both intellectually, physically, and spiritually. We're grateful for this partnership.

How you're helping OTB South Africa

Vita Kidz Porridge is proving to be an essential tool in fighting hunger especially during the COVID-19 crisis. The OTB team in South Africa is partnering with local churches, schools, social service organizations, and the government to get porridge to those battling hunger during the stay at home orders. Watch this quick video to hear how you’re helping meet needs in South Africa.

The demand for individual servings of Vita Kidz Porridge is high. With this new machine, OTB South Africa will be able to help more people. As Jae and Debra mentioned, the machine has been purchased but the campaign is not over. We still need to raise a little over $3,000 to meet our $10,000 goal. Visit the Feeding Families in South Africa page if you are able to help.

Please continue to pray for Mark and his team as they work long days in the effort to help as many people as they can in and around Paarl, South Africa.

Staying home in Haiti

In the capital city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, social distancing is an almost impossible task. Staying at home comes with huge hardships. Hear from OTB’s Director David Destinoble about what Haiti's COVID-19 response looks like and learn how you are helping!

Thank you for partnering with Outside the Bowl in feeding the hungry body and soul starting with our very own international team. We are so grateful to help those who have served so faithfully over the years. They cannot wait to get back to work! Please continue to keep our entire team in your prayers as concern for their safety and health are on our minds and hearts.
